Apprehension As Ritualists Invade Rivers Community
There is palpable fear among residents of Rumuolumeni community in Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers State following the invasion of the community by suspected ritualists.
This is as men of the Rivers State Police Command in the early hours of yesterday killed two suspected armed robbers at Rukpokwu community, also in Obio/ Akpor local government area of the state.
It was gathered that the apprehension in Rumuolumeni community followed the discovery of the remains of an unidentified man in a bush, close to the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) with his manhood missing.
A source, who pleaded anonymity said the deceased looked like a Fulani herdsman, adding that a close examination on the corpse indicated he was dragged into the bush and clubbed to death.
The source said, “A corpse was found this morning in a bush around Eagle Cement Company. The body looks like a Fulani man. Policemen from Rumuolumeni Police Station have taken the body.”
Meanwhile, men of the State Police Command in the early hours of yesterday gunned down two suspected armed robbers, who attempted to rob the caretaker committee chairman of Emohua local government area of the state, Hon. Wokoma.
eye witness gathered that the hoodlums had stormed the Rukpokwu residence of the Wokoma at about 2:00 am but met a stiff resistance from policemen attached to him, whose firepower overpowered theirs.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Omoni Nnamdi, confirmed the incident by said he was yet to get full details of the botched robbery incident.
