APC Suspends ‘Atiku’political son, Releases Powerful Statement
Apparently without delay, the South–South Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has implemented its Disciplinary Committee advice, and suspended the political son of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Comrade Timi Frank, over anti-party activities.
Frank, who was the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, was suspended, following petitions from the Akwa Ibom State chapter of the party.
Frank’s suspension, observers predict, may ultimately pull the trigger on the brewing crisis in the party, as he is believed to have the backing of a faction, currently battling the Presidency, for control of the party leadership.
Frank, is a fierce critic of the APC National Chairman, John Oyegun, and strong supporter of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki. He has also been allegedly acting as a spymaster to Saraki, in the happenings around the party.
Recall, that Frank had during one of his weekly columns titled, “Saraki: Time to end the cold war”, published in Leadership Newspaper, warned Buhari’s cronies plotting against Saraki’s reconciliatory move, to be wary of digging APC’s early grave.
Frank, stated the concern that the earlier the President eliminates the perceived cold war between him and Saraki, the better for the collective gains of his administration.
Announcing the suspension, the National Vice Chairman in charge of the South–South Zone, Hilliard Eta, said the zonal leadership of the party, will recommend the expulsion of Frank from the party, to the National Executive Committee, NEC, in accordance with the party’s constitution.
Eta said: “I received the report of the Disciplinary Committee, setup to look into the allegations of embarrassing utterances, and anti-party activities by Mr Timi Frank, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of this party. Incidentally, he is from Bayelsa, in the South South zone.“In furtherance of satisfying the provision of the constitution of the APC, I had to call for this emergency meeting of the zone, after very exhaustive deliberation, the zone has arrived at the confirmation of the Disciplinary Committee’s report, that one, Mr Timi Frank, be suspended from the party forthwith, in line with article 1 (d) and (f). Having been accepted by this house, Mr Timi Frank hereby stands suspended by this party.
