APC Litmut Test: Book presentation

A book written by the All Progressives Congress, (APC) stalwart and Director General, Progressives Governors’ Forum, (PGF) Salihu Moh’ Lukman will draw all party leaders together at its presentation on Friday, June 11 2021.

The expected leaders of the party includes, 
President Muhammadu Buhari, his Vice, Yemi Osibanjo, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and many others, scheduled to speak at the public presentation.

A statement made available to the Daily Times on Sunday in Abuja, signed by the former APC national publicity secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, on behalf of the organising committee, described the book as a contribution to APC’s quest to bolster its democratic credentials towards engendering political stabilty, best oractice, and good governance in Nigeria.

The book which captures distinctive progressive ethos and political worldview of APC as a bastion for national renaissance exemplified by patriotism and adherence to the rules of political engagements, and moral rectitude.

The statement said, “There is no better time to put this book together as APC grapples with the nitty-gritty of formative challenges. This is coming at a period when APC leaders availed members of the Nigerian progressive family the opportunity to relaunch the party more surefootedly as Nigeria’s best vehicle to save her from the nagging socio-political uncertainties.

“The book contains submissions that speak directly to the existential challenges the APC is facing; it illustrates the collective desire for enduring and firmly rooted democratic practices anchored on the overarching requirement for unity of all party leaders; it examines the hurdles that the APC is facing in its nascent democratic journey and cut open the under-belly of the numerous drawbacks in the leadership that it currently offer the nation through the political instruments it is deploying as a party.”

The statement further stressed that the book is an essential intervention at this critical turn as APC leaders and members embark on important task of putting in place new leadership structures at all levels and in underlying what the future holds for the party in terms of laying a solid foundation for healthy contestations among varying interests and political players.

“APC’s Litmus Tests is therefore, more than just a book. It is more of a workbook, standing at the intersection between the difficult past and the promising future. Its main agenda is to assist APC leaders and, indeed, all stakeholders in negotiating the next bend.”

The launch and presentation of the book which holds at the Banquet Hall, NAF Conference and Suites, Plot 496, Ahmadu Bello Way, Gwarimpa Expressway, Abuja will have the President and Comander in chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammdu Buhari as the Special Guest of Honour while his Vice, Yemi Osibanjo will be the Chief Guest of Honour and Chairman. 

Others are Mai Mala Buni, APC Chairman, will be the host. Ahmed Lawan Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, Secretary to Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha, Progressive Governors led by Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Ministers, APC Senators and members of the House of Representatives of the Party, will be the Guests of Honour.

APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be the Father of the day, while Amb Fatima Balla will be the Mother of the day. Prof Adebayo O. Olukoshi, Prof of Politics and Director for Africa and Asia will present the Keynote Address. 

The book will be reviewed by Hope Uzodinma, Governor of Imo State and Nasir El-Rufai, Governor of Kaduna State.
