APC are liars, says Rivers PDP chairman as he receives decampees

The chairman of the Rivers state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Felix Obuah, has branded the state leadership of the party as a group of liars.

Chief Obuah who spoke at the party’s headquarters, along Aba Road, in Port Harcourt, Thursday, when some chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC), defected to the PDP, emphasized that the APC in the state was losing its members to the ruling PDP because the leadership of the APC was propelled by ego and personal interest.

The chairman of the Rivers state chapter of the PDP noted that the decampees were attracted to the PDP by the visible achievements of Governor Nyesom Wike in infrastructural developments.

The PDP chairman declared: “Those who are decamping to the PDP are spurred by the successes achieved by Governor Nyesom Wike. In two years, Wike has performed beyond the expectation of many people in Nigeria.

“The PDP is a big family. The party is big enough to accommodate everybody. Tell others to come back to the PDP to their home. Those who are still in the APC are there for their selfish interest. The current leaders in the APC in Rivers State are simply massaging their egos,” he said.

Chief Obuah thanked the two APC chieftains who defected with their members to the PDP, former Speaker of the Asari-Toru Council, Orolosama Amachree and a former chairman of Degema Local Government Area, Samuel Ikiroma, that they would be treated like all other members in the PDP.”

The PDP chairman assured the decampees saying, “You have nothing to worry about. You came back home. Like you said earlier, you did not return to the APC because anyone gave you money. Nobody promised you anything. You decided on your own volition to return to the PDP from where you defected to the APC.

“I want to thank God Almighty for this day. I also want to thank Governor Wike for creating the enabling environment for what we are witnessing here, today. Our brothers have decided to come back to the PDP because they are impressed with the performance of Governor Wike.

“Now that you are back to the PDP, you will be accorded the same rights and privileges that all other members in the PDP enjoy. You will be treated with honour and dignity. What we need in Rivers State is love and peace, so we commend your efforts,” he stated.

The PDP chairman also used the occasion to commend Chief Emeh Glory Emeh who defected to the PDP three weeks before, saying: “We are grateful to Chief Emeh who has served in almost all governments in Rivers State since 1999 and have decided, having seen through all the lies in APC, to come back to his political family in the PDP.”

Reacting quickly to the defection, the All Progressives Congress, APC, Rivers State Chapter said it would resist the temptation to add value to dishonest attempts by some PDP leaders to feather their nest over inconsequential and worthless defections, especially when it has become the easiest means to pocket Wike’s money.

The publicity secretary of the Rivers state APC, Mr. Chris Finebone, said this in a statement issued immediately. Mr. Finebone stated that “Today’s show of shame called defection by the PDP is a classic example.”

He said: “Let it be on record that important APC stakeholders in Asari-Toru LGA have a dossier on the romance between Orolosama Amachree and the PDP in ASALGA over time. This culminated in a meeting they all held with Gov. Nyesom Wike on December 8, 2016 in Government House, Port Harcourt.

“Subsequently, the APC placed surveillance on Orolosama while APC members in ASALGA distanced themselves from him especially in view of his treacherous behaviour during the December 10 rerun elections,” he continued.

Mr. Finebone stated that it was laughable to hear Chief Glory Emeh refer to APC as party of lies and propaganda, adding that in due time, a public presentation of the series of his alleged lies and propaganda against his present master would be made to help the public judge who between APC and Chief Emeh reveled more in lies and propaganda.
