APC disowns Commissioner designate, Peter Okonkwo

…says He’s not our member
The Enugu State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC, has disowned Peter Okonkwo, who was recently confirmed as a commissioner by the Enugu State House of Assembly.

The chairman of the party, Ben Nwoye disclosed at the weekend during a get together ceremony organized by the17 APC candidates in the controversial November 4th, Local Government Area poll said that, “Barrister Peter Okonkwko, (Ohamedike) has left APC, long time ago.

He said that Okonkwo, “used to be one of us and a member of the APC Constitution Drafting subcommittee during its formation days.

However, the chairman said, Okonkwo negotiated his exist from APC when he openly worked for former President, Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi during the 2015 general polls.

“Barr. Okonkwo has never pretended being a member of PDP. As a member of APC Okonkwo was always seen wearing PDP uniform with Governor Ugwuanyi’s photograph boldly inscribed on it.

“This clarification became necessary to prove to the public that the man is not a member of APC as being reported in the media.

Nwoye, applauded the APC LGA candidates for packaging the get together, especially for the 260 Councillorship candidates and vowed that the party will not rest on its oars until it wrestle power from the PDP in the state.

The Coordinating chairman of the LGA candidates and the Udi chairmanship candidate in the LGA election, Professor Martin Ike Muonso, said despite the fact that the PDP stole their mandates during the election; they are resolute in sending the ruling party packing in 2019.

He explained that the essence of inviting all the 260 Councillorship candidates in the election was to review the council polls as well as encourage one another in the political fight against the ruling party in the state.

“Despite the fact that we suffer serious harassment and intimidation from political thugs during the council polls we are resolute in kicking out PDP from Enugu State”, he said.

He said, “What transpired on November 4th in the local government election was a broad day political robbery by the PDP.

“We are appealing to the APC leadership in the state not to relent in assisting the party’s candidates in the LGA election in pursuing their court cases to a logical conclusion.

“This is the beginning of a battle that will make us dislodge PDP in 2019”, he said.

He advised PDP to start packing its load from the government house saying APC will get justice in the end.
