APC chieftain, Ilelaboye drums support for Ambode, tasks party leadership

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos East Senatorial District, Alhaji Tunji Ilelaboye has urged the APC leadership in the state to use loyalty, competence and performance as parameters for selection and re-election of candidates of the party, especially in Lagos East ahead 2019 general elections.

He stated that if such criteria and performance index are adopted, it will go a long way in calming frayed nerves and ensuring the victory of APC candidates vying for the House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senatorial seats in the general elections next year without rancour among contenders.

He insisted that any political office holder especially those currently serving that fails to live up to expectation of the people in their constituencies should be dropped for more vibrant and grassroots oriented candidates.

Ilelaboye, a former Sole Administrator in Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area, dropped the hint at Alapere, Lagos, while speaking with Journalists during a sensitisation programme in the Council area.

According to him, “Everywhere you go in the Lagos metropolis and outside the state, people are commending the Lagos State governor, Akinwumi Ambode for a job well done. The people are the ones calling for his reelection in 2019, because of his excellent performance three years on.

“Our elected representatives too must enjoy the confidence of people who voted for them based on their contribution towards their human capacity development since 2015, to guarantee easy passage for them at the polls,” he declared.

While commending Governor Ambode and the lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency 1 in the Lagos House of Assembly, Hon. Bayo Osinowo for bringing the joy of social infrastructure to Lagosians and Lagos East, he, however urged the people not to trade their votes for peanuts since Ambode’s performance has silenced opposition in the Centre of Excellence.
