APC chairmanship: Group berates ex-governor over Oyegun’s travails

A group under the aegis of All Progressives Congress Youth Vigilante (APCYV) has warned those plotting the removal of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun to desist from it saying they have confidence in his leadership quality.
APC Youth Vigilante is a body of conscientiously militant politicians of the All Progressives Congress who believe in rise of energetic, cerebral and inspiring youths to the highest stage of political leadership in Nigeria.
The group in a statement signed by its Director Organisation/Strategy, Mr. Emmanuel Oronsaye also accused the immediate past governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole of sponsoring a protest calling for his removal.
“We watched with consternation the stage managed protest against Chief John Odigie-Oyegun on the 30th of October, 2017 at the instance of no less an anti-Benin elements singlehandedly led by Adams Oshiomhole whose questionable leadership as the APC caucus leader in Edo State has fragmented the party,” he said.
Oronsaye said Oshiomhole is venting his anger of not being appointed to serve under President Muhammed Buhari on the National Chairman of the party.
“Let us place on record that APC as a party is yet to arrive at its ideologically wired end, it naturally has in its fold a lot of pretenders which we are sure are responsible for the refusal to appoint him the least relevant position of a junior Special Assistant to the President.
“We are aware that he has blamed Chief Oyegun and vowed to vent his fury on Chief Oyegun. This is absolutely miscalculated because the man Oyegun has no hand whatsoever in Oshiomhole’s stunted rise to presidential relevance,” he said.
He called on those who has anything against the leadership style of the National Chairman of the party to seek a proper way of resolving it amicably with him as they as a group are comfortable and happy with him.
“In recognition of his patriotic role, anyone who has anything against Oyegun’s style of leadership must approach it through the appropriate channels of communication and dispute reconciliation because he has demonstrated absolute understanding of local and national politics.
“We are happy with the overwhelming support for his continued leadership of our great party by diverse people who believe in decent and productive politics,” he said.
