Ambode, others converge for Lagos Traffic Radio lecture

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state is expected to be the Special Guest of Honour, while the Chairman Senate Committee on Land Transportation, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, will be the keynote speaker, as Lagos Traffic Radio 96.1 FM holds its second annual lecture series with the theme, ‘Advancing Urban Transportation and Mobility’.

According to General Manager of the Station, Layinka Adagun, the lecture, which will hold on Thursday, June 22, at the Eko Fm multipurpose hall, is expected to challenge the lingering traffic situation in the metropolis.

He said aside the governor and the chairman, House Committee on Land Transportation; other speakers expected at the event are Professor S.G. Odewunmi of the Lagos State University School of Transport and Engineering, Abiodun Dabiri, and the Managing Director, Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), as guest speakers.

“The event, which is in conjunction with ETC media concept will also form part of the fifth anniversary celebration of the station. The lecture series, basically serves as a platform to discuss and proffer solution to transportation challenges which is borne out of the need for regular interface of ideas, best practices and latest tools to better manage the ever increasing vehicular traffic challenges in Lagos state.

“The platform will serve as a catalyst for cross-fertilization of ideas on the way to advance the traffic management in Lagos state and to help project the efforts of the traffic management authorities at tackling the menace of traffic gridlocks.

“Since the station was commissioned on 29 May, 2012, by the former governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola, and being the first traffic station in the country, we have resolved to address traffic challenges in Lagos and its environment,” Adagun said.
