Akor Relishes Rangers Goalkeeping Experience

Rangers International of Enugu goalkeeper, Itodo Akor, is relishing his time between the posts in this new Glo Premier League season.

The Benue-born shot stopper has been given the nod to man the post for the Flying Antelopes in their first three league games this season and Akor is reveling in his new role as the team’s first choice.

Rangers have produced Nigerian international goalkeepers in the past including the likes of Emmanuel Okala, Sam Okoye and current Olympic team goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel (who is still on the books of Rangers).

For Akor, it is always a great pleasure whenever he is called upon to play for this team with a rich tradition.

“Actually, it is a great challenge because Rangers itself is a great team. So manning the post for them is a great pleasure for me. You just have to keep doing your best even outside match days. In the team’s training and outside training, putting yourself in the right shape,” he said.

For a club with high expectation from its fans, competition for places in the team is always very fierce and that itself brings enormous responsibility on the shoulders of the players.

Akor who is in his third season with the Coal City giants having joined from El-Kanemi Warriors in 2013 believes handing him starting berths in the midst of other quality goalkeepers means the technical crew believes in his ability and he must not disappoint.
