Akeredolu challenges appointees to upgrade skills, commends Adeyeye at 50

The Ondo State governor, Arakurin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has challenged appointees of government to upgrade their knowledge of how things are done quickly to fit into modern techniques of governance.

Akeredolu who spoke at the 50th birthday celebration of his Special Adviser of Health, Hon (Dr.) Ajibayo Adeyeye in Ondo City noted that the versatility of Adeyeye has made him a pillar of his government and that he has come to rely on him in taking critical decisions as it relates to health matters in the state.

Describing Adeyeye as a digital Special Adviser, the governor said the combination of Adeyeye and the Health Commissioner, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro has made issues of health management in the state an easy one for him to deal with, noting that while the commissioner is well grounded and deep in medical practice, Adeyeye is deep in the politics of health management and the combination has been of tremendous value to his government.

Also speaking at the event, former Minister of Solid Mineral Development, now the Governor-elect of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, who described Adeyeye as more of a brother to him said the former Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly has been one person he relies on in seeking advice on many issues of life over the years and he has never been let down.

Speaking earlier, at the event which was also attended by the Ondo State deputy governor, Dr. Agboola Ajayi, Lagos State deputy governor, Dr(Mrs) Idiat Oluranti Adebule, former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, the Senator representing Osun East at the National Assembly,

Sen. Babajide Omoworare, Ondo State APC chairman, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, Chief Whip of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Rotimi Abiru, a full team of the Ondo State executive council and members of the state legislature among others, the chairman of the occasion and an Ondo High Chief, Chief Olabanji Akingbule described Adeyeye as a true chip of the old block.

Akingbule who said he was a friend of the celebrant’s late father, said Ajibayo has shown that a good tree cannot produce a bad fruit.

According to him, “the people of Ondo enjoyed his father and Ajibayo has stepped into that shoe and it is a special thing of pride to me,” he said.

The event which had Chief Sunny Ade on the band stand, also had an indigenous Ondo traditional dancers entertaining the guests.

The birthday celebration which lasted a better part of a week earlier saw the former Lagos Assembly lawmaker, now aspiring to represent Ondo Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, earlier empowering about 689 indigent residents of Ondo town with gifts ranging from N10,000 to N25,000 and more.

Speaking at the empowerment event, Adeyeye said the event was to thank God for what He has done for him, noting that his plan to affect the lives of the less privilege in his home town when he turns 50 has been in planning for over 10 years.

Also speaking at the event, which saw the launch of his autobiography, presented by Akeredolu and Fayemi, on the out pouring of love towards him at the birthday celebration, the medical doctor turn politician said, it was a clear indication that his service to the fatherland was well appreciated and that he was challenged to keep putting in his best whenever the opportunity calls.
