AFCON Qualifier: Amuzie sorry for Eagles’ ouster
Stanley Amuzie has pleaded with Nigerians to forgive the Super Eagles after they failed to qualify for AFCON 2017, adding the team will now target “bigger one”.
The Olhanense of Portugal defender apologised on behalf of Eagles for failing to reach AFCON for the second straight time.
“I thank you all for the support and prayers, even though we didn’t qualify for the Nations Cup. We are sorry and looking up to a bigger one ahead,” Amuzie wrote on his Facebook page.
The towering defender played as the left-back against Egypt in Kaduna and Alexandria which Nigeria drew 1-1 and lost 1-0 respectively
He was considered ahead of the more experienced Elderson Echiejile.
