ADC Lagos Coalition Gets Boost as Okiki Dumps APC for New Opportunities
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition is gaining traction as influential politicians from different parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), are switching allegiance to the coalition. Sola Okiki, a former APC member and aide to Rauf Aregbesola, the current interim National Secretary of the ADC coalition, is the latest to transition to the ADC Lagos coalition.

Okiki’s choice to join the ADC coalition is particularly notable due to his close ties with Aregbesola. His decision to follow his superior into the ADC coalition reflects his dedication to the party’s ideals and mission. During the acceptance event at the ADC headquarters, Okiki was presented with his membership card by the ADC Lagos State Working Committee (SWC), alongside other distinguished politicians who have also affiliated with the coalition.
Among the prominent figures who became part of the ADC coalition is Hon. Rahman Owokoniran, the leader of the Lagos PDP coalition, who brought his team to officially receive their membership cards. Key members of the ADC Lagos State Working Committee, led by George Ashiru, the party’s State Chairman; Dr. Mohammad Ogidi, the State Organising Secretary; and Mrs. Disu Yetunde, the Vice Chairman for Lagos East, were present at the ceremony to warmly welcome the new members.
Additionally, Mabel Oboh, the former ADC national publicity secretary and ADC Edo 2020 governorship candidate, was also in attendance.
In his speech upon accepting membership, Okiki shared his enthusiasm for joining the ADC coalition and vowed to diligently promote the party’s agenda. He expressed admiration for the party’s vision and leadership, believing it will lead to significant progress and development in Lagos State.
ADC Chairman George Ashiru greeted Okiki and the other newcomers to the coalition, noting that their choice to join the party is indicative of its increasing strength and appeal. He emphasised that the remarkable individuals joining the ADC Lagos coalition signalled a bright future for improvement in Lagos.
The arrival of new members in the ADC coalition is regarded as a considerable uplift for the party’s prospects in Lagos State. With Okiki’s knowledge and skills, the party is expected to gain more momentum in the southwestern region, particularly in Lagos State where he operates.
