Accountant-General to IGP: No going back on IPPIS enrolment

… Explains shortfall in salary payment
… Directs consultant to resolve all issues
The Accountant – General of the Federation (AGF), Mr Ahmed Idris, has told the Nigeria Police that his office would not renege in enrolling the police and other security agencies on the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS), as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Mr. Idris said that the complaints on shortfall in the salary payment has to do with statutory deductions on the IPPIS platform which is applicable to every employee on the platform, some of which include, the National Housing Fund (NHF), which is 2.5% of the basic salary, Employees Pension and PAYE tax as stipulated by the Joint tax board, which nobody can do anything about.
He urged the police authorities to educate their men on these issues, adding that “there is no going back on Mr. President’s directive to enrol the Nigeria Police force and other Security Agencies on the IPPIS platform.”
Mr. Idris, stated this recently, while receiving a delegation of the Nigeria Police Force, led by Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Abdul Salami Iyaji, to deliver a letter from the Inspector General of Police and discuss other matters of mutual interest.
A statement issued by the Head, Press and Public Relations (OAGF) Oise Johnson said Mr. Idris resolved to oversee personally the process of resolving all impending issues.
The statement said “the AGF described the seeming intractable issues emanating from the enrolment of the Nigeria Police on the IPPIS platform as unacceptable and which must be dispensed with without further delay.
“He directed the Nigeria Police to submit all the required documents requested by the IPPIS department to his office and so that he will personally supervise the process of resolving the matters immediately.”
Mr. Idris also directed the IPPIS Consultant, Messers Soft Alliance to immediately deploy additional personnel to ensure that all issues are resolved within the shortest time possible.
On the issue of newly promoted police officers, “the AGF directed the police to make a comprehensive list of all officers involved, indicating their IPPIS Nos,” to enable his office address the matter holistically to avoid any body being left out.
Responding, the AIG, Iyaji, promised the cooperation of the Nigeria Police, saying that they will work with the Accountant- General to ensure that the Police enrolment, which he described as being successful so far, get the necessary backing to address some observed challenges.
He assured that the Police will continue to educate their men on those mandatory deductions and other benefits of the IPPIS, which he described as very good initiative, which needs the support of all Nigerians.
