ABAG to revalidate private schools

Abia state government has inaugurated a 10 – man committee to revalidate private schools in the state. The committee headed by Dr Mrs Kate Ndubuka is expected to verify the authenticity of all documents of approved private schools as well as verify all payment claims by the schools from registration to date.

The committee is also to identify all illegal and non registered schools and all indebtedness of the schools to government and ensure quick recovery of shortfalls.

Inaugurating the committee in his office on behalf of the Governor, the secretary to the State Government, Dr Eme Okoro said the committee is to henceforth ensure that all payments by private schools to the government are made through government approved designated banks.

He urged the committee to liaise with the state ministry of education to get the list of approved schools as well as the Abia state Board of Internal Revenue to determine payments so far made.

Dr Okoro said the government is committed to organising private schools in the state and checkmating flaws that may hinder quality education.

The committee which has three months to complete its assignment and make recommendations to the government has Nwogu Alozie as its secretary.
