The former Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Sambo, has called on the ministry of Transportation to ensure the implementation of the Cargo Tracking Note (CTN), before the inauguration of the next Federal Executive Council(FEC).
Speaking over the weekend when the League of Maritime Editors (LOME), organised an appreciation dinner for the immediate past minister of Transportation, Muazu Sambo and the immediate past minister of state, Prince Ademola Adegoroye, Sambo said, CTN is jinxed.
According to the former minister, the CTN should be de-jinxed, asking the permanent secretary, Dr Madgalene Ajani, to go to President Bola Tinubu for approval on the CTN.
Sambo said: “the cargo tracking note is jinxed but Perm sec, I trust you to de-jinx it. Please before the next cabinet is in place, make sure the CTN is working. You are the acting minister now, you can take anything to Mr president and get express approval.”
Also speaking, the executive secretary, Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Emmanuel Jime, disclosed that, the CTN brought about rivalry among government agencies in the maritime sector.
He, however, said the former minister insisted that Shippers’ Council would be given the implementation of the CTN and used the political will available to make sure that the Federal Executive Council(FEC) approved the CTN for NSC to implement.

He described NSC as the greatest beneficiary of the short tenure of the two ministers.
According to him, “you all will remember there was a Cargo Tracking Note and then heads of agencies in the maritime sector struggle about the lead of this particular platform.
“You know I don’t want to stand here and lie to us, you see there is inter-agency rivalry among us, I know quite a lot of our friends that didn’t actually really want the idea of NSC implementing the CTN. When Muazu Sambo came, first thing he did as soon as he interacted with me was that he said ‘ES the NSC under my watch will be given the implementation of the CTN.'”
“He went ahead and did everything using the political and capital available to make sure that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved the CTN for NSC; not only did he get the approval he ensured that NSC was given the right of implementation,” he said.
