Pastors that are rich should reach out to the poor-Dr. Sign Fireman

Pastor Sign Fireman who heads the ‘Dr. Fireman Church’ in Surulere started preaching at age 7 and became an associate pastor at a very tender age of 12. In this chat with MUTIAT ALLI, he shares his journey into ministering amongst others. Has there been any experience while as a kid that made you join the ministry so early?
Actually 3 things changed me completely. The first was my calling at the age of 3, the other was when I was 3 , we went to church like a family and my mother went to greet somebody while at that I had encounter with an angel and another person. The person went to the driver’s seat and the call came. The second was on 11th of July 1994 by 8:37,in the evening, I was talking to my cousin about to lay down and suddenly fire fell me and burnt the left side of my face and the mark remained there for 2 years, on that day the Lord spoke to me that I have anointed you from this day forward there shall b no problem stand before you as people believing receive this anointing.
And two things happened thereafter. I woke up the next morning and discovered that whenever I close my eyes would have visions and soon after wards the things I saw would see them physically. Later, I stopped closing my eyes cause I have never had such experience.
Jesus appeared to me and he said, when you look at people on the spot you begin to have visions of the people and can tell thing about the people.
But if you are hungry it won’t work well ,when you are tired it won’t work well.
On 13th of July 1994, a woman brought her husband who’s been deaf, and she said I just want you to pray for him. I was just a kid and she said I want you to just pray for him, and I prayed casually and I turned to tell her to don’t worry your husband would be fine and the man began to shout “I can hear”.
I also had an encounter with the Lord and he said you have to master the gift. It’s not all about healing the sick. I came to Lagos and I started a church and in 4 weeks we were running 5 services, 9 months we grew to over thousands. I never intend to grow a church like that. Sometimes when miracles start others call their friends to come and witness.
The 4th thing that changed my life, I was in a place called Gretna it’s a place in Luciana. When I was in a hotel called Best Western in 2014, I was waiting for one of my workers, Jeff to prepare, I was sitting at the foot of my bed for him to prepare suddenly I felt something standing in between me and the television and I looked up and saw Jesus. He said he came to give an answer to my question and that lasted for approximately 2 years.
Where do you hold your programs?
In our crusade, anything imaginable happens, the blind sees, the lame work. I could just be speaking and people begin to run out shouting I was blind, I can see, my eyes just opened now in my seat. One of the days in the crusade we had up to you 50 blind eyes opened. Even the Governor of Abia had to come to Lagos to look for me. Last week we used the place NYSC camp Iyana-Ipaja and the place was jammed. One lady, she had a growth on the breast for several years she just ran out, saying she felt something in her breast when she put her hand in her breast she couldn’t find anything.
What is your assessment of Nigerian Pastors?
Well to be sincere, I love all the Ministers and Churches where you listen to nice teachings. But I feel we need to introduce the Power of God in the church like in the Bible days. Like in India they tell you they have their different gods that they don’t believe what you are doing is real and they tell you to prove it. Then I asked that all the blind people to come to the stage, all the cripple come to the stage, all the deaf come to the stage, all those with twisted leg, all with stretchers come to the stage and requested all their priest should come to the stage. And I said if you can cure all this people I would follow you, but if my Jesus does it you will follow him. In about an hour, every single person worked, the blind saw and more then they all asked for Jesus.
There was a particular lady that had growth on her neck and then I held it and spoke to it. At the spot it vanished in my hand and people began to drop car keys, house documents saying they have never seen that before
You said they need to introduce New Anointing? What best way can other churches tap into that?
One of the challenges in churches is when somebody is into miracle, he kind of build denomination for himself and his church body. Then if you not a member of his church or associate pastor you cannot partake in it. So, the first thing I’m doing is I’m telling people that this thing is for the body of Christ not for ourselves. The second thing is to re-train people. Alot of people don’t know what to do for a miracle to happen, so they have to be taught and re-trained. I want to begin to teach not just the ministers but also the average believers. You can just heal your son at home and what he does is to come to church and give God the Glory. After all, the Bible says this signs shall fall on this that believe in my name you shall lay your hands on the sick and they shall recover. The way we do anointing services have to change. The anointing service of today are more of people applying oil instead of the anointing, the anointing is not the oil.
Nigerians hardly go to church because of extortion, what do you think?
My take on it, is that we ministers should be like Jesus. Jesus feeds the hungry with the bread, the little boy came with, he didn’t take the bread and fish alone. He shared with the congregation. So, the giving’s should be used like Jesus. I think those pastors that are rich should reach out to the poor.
Nigerians are really suffering, has God ever shown you who would be the next president?
One of the things I do is that I believe in working in the region of your call. God called me to take the sight of the Holy Spirit. May be in your finances, marriage, education I can help you. What I don’t do is get into what I’m not called to. Let those called to do it face their call, while I face mine.
What could be the solution to the problem Nigerian are facing?
The first thing the Nation should do, we have missed God, they should give their life to Christ. Secondly Nigerians should develop ourselves. If a lot of us are developed things would be better.
