Youths have been cautioned to avoid all forms of violence during and after the forth coming general election and vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) at all levels. The wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha Buhari made the call during a one day town hall meeting on Wednesday to interact with youths and women on the 2019 general elections held at the Multipurpose indoor sport Hall Bauchi. Mrs Buhari who was represented by the wife of the Vice president, Mrs Dolapo Osunbajo, the need to re-elect Buhari was necessary so as to continue with his transformational programme as well as consolidate on the ongoing once. She informed the gathering that in view of President Muhammadu Buhari’s achievements in the areas of security, road construction, improved power supply, agriculture, youths and women empowerment programme amongst others, Nigerians should come out enmass to and vote for him in February 16. Also speaking, the Chairman National Working Committee on Women and Youth Presidential Campaign, General Muhammad Buba Marwa (rtd) advised women voters in the North-East particularly supporters of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to henceforth avoid the use of popular henna (used for painting of fingers) in order to be able to cast their votes in the forthcoming general elections. He said that with henna in their fingers the card reader machines will not be able to recognize their finger prints just as the ink to be used in the thumb print will not stick to the thumbs thereby making it difficult to cast a valid vote for the APC candidates particularly President Muhammadu Buhari. Buba Marwa therefore appealed to the women not to use the henna henceforth until after the general elections so that their votes will count. To the youths, the Presidential Campaign Chairman for Women and Youth Committee urged them to ensure that they collected their PVCs because according to him without valid PVC they will not be able to cast their votes for the APC. Marwa while calling on the youths to be law-abiding and peaceful before, during and after the election, advised them to ensure that their votes are counted. While re-echoing the call on women not to use henna until after the general elections, a onetime Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Pauline Tallen explained that the use of henna will disenfranchise them. “If you use henna, it will block the lines of your thumb thereby making it impossible for the card readers to recognise your finger prints and make it also impossible for the ink to stick to the thumb for printing on the ballot paper “. Talen educates the women. The town hall meeting was attended by women and youths from all the six states in the North-East as well as other APC leaders and elected representatives.
