May & Baker concerned over impact false M&A report with Fidson

May and Baker Nigeria Plc has expressed concern over the impact of false report on merger and acquisition with Fidson Healthcare plc, would have on the company’s corporate image globally.
The company in a recent report, however, denied any form of merger arrangement or talks with Fidson Healthcare Plc, as published in one of the national Daily’s (Not Daily Times) recently.
This was coming as the Nigerian capital market remained awash with market hearsay on merger or acquisition talks existing between Fidson Health Care and May & Baker Plc, of which both companies have out rightly denied.
Daily Times gathered that since the publication, the company’s board has remained concerned, on want their foreign partners would react to the story which the company claims to be baseless.
The report signed by Aodeji Aboderin, Executive Director Finance May & Baker Plc, said.
“Our notice has been drawn to a publication in BusinessDay Newspaper on Monday 22 May 2017, which put out a statement to the effect that Fidson Healthcare Plc is looking at Merger, acquisition or acquisition of May & Baker Plc”
“We must put it on record that in that statement and no such talks or negotiations is holding between the two quoted companies.
On the contrary, the board and management of May & Baker is positioning the company to be the leading health care brand, not just in Nigeria, but beyond” the company said.
The company said that the report, becomes imperative to assuage the minds of its numerous shareholders and stakeholders as well as forestall speculative actions on shares of the company, working to merge as one of the leading health care firms globally.
