Our lives in danger, says community elders

The people of oil-rich Ode-Ugborodo community, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta state, have called on relevant security agencies in the country to fish out the killers of their elders, Pa. Sandys Omadeili Uvwoh, who was murdered by recently yet to be identified assailants.

They also appealed to the state government to make specific security provisions for the Olaja-Orori of Ugborodo, whom they said has been threatened severally by unknown persons as their fear now is that he is a potential target.

The call is contained in a statement issued on behalf of his people by the Secretary, Ode-Ugborodo Community, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Mr. Femi Owawah and made available to newsmen in Warri last yesterday.

“I want to use this medium to call on all relevant security agencies e.g. the Nigerian Police Force, the Department of State Services, the Military Joint Task Force etc., to fish out the perpetrators of this dastardly act.

“May I also further reiterate that the perpetrators of this condemnable act are still hell bent on attacking more persons who are opposed to their imperialist activities of bleeding the Ugborodo Community dry and fleecing it of its commonwealth,” the statement stated.

Mr. Owawah in a chat said the people of Ugborodo are deeply pained by the unwarranted killing of one of their patriotic leaders who had stood for justice, equity, fair play and freedom of the oppressed, adding that the community now live in fear of palpable attack by those who are opposed to oneness of the community.

He said that a seven days mourning have been declared by the Ugborodo Community which started last Wednesday and would end next Wednesday as a mark of respect for the prize Pa Sandys paid for his people.
