774,000 jobs: 30slots per LGA is not enough for us, Reps Minority kicks

The House of Representatives Minority Caucus has said that assigning just 30 slots for each member of the House as against the 1,000 jobs for each local government was unreasonable and unsatisfactory to legislators and Nigerians, Daily Times gathered.
Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu (PDP, Delta), said in an announcement that they were dismissing the 30 employment spaces allocated to them.
He said that as true representatives of the citizenry, it was uncalled for to assign only 30 openings out of accessible 1,000 to lawmakers from the local government within their constituencies.
Elumelu said the assembly was requesting more straightforwardness and audit of the models being utilized for the apportioning.

He asserted that the models supported certain interests in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the impairment and detriment of Nigerians.
He maintained that the 774,000 employments were intended for the general public, adding that they admire legislators as significant channels for social and financial strengthening, a circumstance, which makes the 30 openings out of the 1,000 for every local government terribly insufficient.
As per him: “The 30slots for each local government for lawmakers is terribly uncalled for, deficient and inadmissible to Nigerians. According to him: “The 30 person allotment per local government for lawmakers is grossly unfair, inadequate and unacceptable to Nigerians.
“As the representatives of the people, we are closer to them and they directly interact with us, irrespective of religion, class, and political affiliations.
“All Nigerians living in our constituencies are our constituents, irrespective of political leanings. We have a responsibility to protect their interests at all times. As such lawmakers ought to have been carried along on the allotment.
“Moreover, the questions are, what criteria are being used in the job allotments? Given the 30 persons out of 1000 per local government area allotted to federal lawmakers, what happens to the remaining 970? What answers do we give Nigerians?
“How do we ensure that the program benefited Nigerians and not enmeshed in allegations of sharp practices as witnessed in the COVID-19 palliative distribution?”
He asked President Muhammadu Buhari to quickly order a review of the implementation procedure to guarantee that the citizens are the sole beneficiaries of the program as intended.
