Leicester renew bid for red-hot Musa
English Premier League leaders, Leicester City, have renewed their interest in the race to sign Nigerian captain, Ahmed Musa, from Russian club, CSKA Moscow in the summer.
After failed attempts to land the Nigerian attacking winger in the January transfer window, officials of The Foxes are reported to be in Russia to tie up a deal with the Moscow side for their number one target.
According to reports in England, Leicester are ready to put around £18 million on the table to prise away the 23-year-old former Kano Pillars man in the summer with the like of Manchester United believed to be lurking.
Leicester are unfazed by the fact that Musa has made a come-and-get-me plea to North London club, Arsenal, last week when he revealed that he is a big fan of the Gunners.
“I would be happy if I was wanted by Arsenal. I have supported the team since the age of six. Nwankwo Kanu has been my idol since childhood. It will be fantastic to play for Arsenal,” said Musa of his affection for the Gunners.
However, reports have revealed that CSKA Moscow will likely hold out for the £23-million release clause in the contract of Musa when discussions resume with Leicester this week.
CSKA had baulked at selling to Leicester in January as they feel Musa will play a big part in their run-up to the Russian Premier League title, which could earn them around the same amount they are demanding for the winger.
The Russian league leaders could net around €50 million by winning their domestic title and sale of Musa in the summer.
Musa, who joined CSKA Moscow from Dutch outfit VVV-Venlo in January 2012, has scored seven goals from 19 Russian Premier League appearances thus far this season.
