4 persons arrested in Edo over homosexuality

Men of the Evbuotubu Divisional Police headquarters have stormed a Guest House in Benin City where they arrested four persons who allegedly engaged in homosexuality.
The men, Lucky Michael Osakue, Jimoh Igbinovia, Monday Osayi and Andrew Isibor were said to be arrested in the Guest House located in Agho Street, Off Ekewan Road, Benin City at about 11pm on November 22, 2022 by Policemen who were on night patrol.
They were subsequently taken to the Evbuotubu Police Division and later released on bail after four days in detention.
Two of the arrested persons, Andrew Isibor, and Lucky Michael Osakue were in November 2018 said to have been arrested at a birthday party in Motel Bellisima, located off Sapele Road, Benin City by Policemen attached to Aideyan Police Station under similar circumstance.
Andrew Isibor and 38 year old Lucky Michael Osakue are bisexual and indigenes of Edo State.
Our investigation revealed that Osakue has been in the wanted list of Edo State Command of the Nigeria Police for the offence of homosexuality.
Homosexual in Nigeria attracts jail terms of up to 14 years.
Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Edo Command, ASP Chidi Nwabuzor said he was yet to be briefed.
