2nd Term: Gov Obiano promises more Int’l partnership

The Anambra State Government has called for more creative partnership with International Development Partners to deepen efforts aimed at transforming the area.
Governor Willie Obiano stated this during the Maiden Anambra Business Roundtable with the theme, “Consolidating on the vision” to herald his second term inauguration.
Governor Willie Obiano, who explained that the programme was put together to bring ideas that would guide his administration in the next four years, noted that he had laid solid foundation for the thriving of economic activities in the area.
Governor Obiano while pledging to consolidate on past gains recorded, solicited for the support of Development Partners in transforming its industrial clusters, water and health sectors.
Earlier, the former Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget in the state, Mr. Mike Okoye, stressed that the forum would explore other areas of promoting development in the area by identifying solutions to socio-economic issues.
Contributing, the United Nations Resident Humanitarian Co-ordinator in Nigeria, Mr. Edward Kallon, pledged to use it’s expertise in sustaining the government’s transformation agenda, while harping on the need to sustain effective relationship with the private sector.
Also, the Director, United Nations Industrial Organisation in the country, Dr. Jean Bakole, who promised to help in boosting youth and women entrepreneurship in the state, urged the government to pay more attention to economic diversification.
Other experts who spoke on the occasion, including Mr. Mac Atasie, Mr. Patrick Okigbo, advocated the employment of the best practices and renewable energy to sustain the industrial and other sectors of the economy.
