PANDEF condemns SPDC’s illegal takeover of Belema oil fields

The leadership of Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has condemned the illegal takeover of the Belema Oil Fields, OML 25, by Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC).

Addressing the Press in Abuja on Monday, Leader of the group, Edwin Clark, emphasized that any plan to sell the contentious oil field, must be aborted in the overall interest of peace and stability of the Niger Delta Region.

According to the Ijaw leader, the SPDC has resorted into what they described as the use of divide and rule antics, and introduced thuggry, violence and in-fighting in the area.

“In the light of the above, the Host Communities of OML 25, otherwise known as Belema, Offinama, Ngeje, Kilama, Diaba, Okoama, amongst others and the entire Kula Kingdom have resolved that SPDC must divest OML 25 to an indigenous firm,” he noted.
