19 Northern Ndigbo Rally Support for Buhari

The Igbo people resident in the Northern part of the country, have demanded justice and equal rights, as they show support for the incoming administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Association of Ndieze Udo, in the 19 northern states and Abuja, organised a party at the weekend, in celebration of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari’s victory at the just concluded presidential election.

It would be recalled that a little before the March 28 election, the association paid a solidarity visit to Buhari to expressed its support and confidence in his aspiration to become the next president of the country.

The presiding officer of the association, Dr. Uche Egenti, described Buhari’s victory as the will of God, saying the ‘change’ has become inevitable to address the socio-economic woes the nation was passing through at the moment.

“We ensure that our people endorsed and voted massively for Gen. Mahammadu Buhari, because, we believe that, at this particular time in the history of Nigeria, we really need a change, and the name Mohammadu Buhari connotes discipline and the fight against corruption. We felt this is the area where Goodluck Jonathan has done wrong, hence the need to rally round the man that will bring about discipline and fight the scourge called corruption.”

“We also moved our team and visit Gen Buhari at that point to expressed our support for him, and it is the best thing to do at the time, because we need to demonstrate that it is not every Igbo man that will reason along with the greater chunk of those residing in the North, who knows the pain of Igbo man living in the North, and who knows the peculiarity of our environment. So, we felt that to follow the tide is the best option at the time because we know that Gen. Buhari would win the election,” Egenti said.
