Zuma appoints new anti-graft watchdog head
South African President Jacob Zuma on Thursday appointed Busisiwe Mkhwebane as the new Public Protector, a constitutionally mandated anti-corruption watchdog.
Mkhwebane, a lawyer whose most recently held a position at the State Security Agency, replaced Thuli Madonsela, a popular figure with the public who led an investigation into improper state spending on Zuma’s country home.
