Zamfara APC announces defection of SSG’s brother, accuses govt of illegally arresting member
The Zamfara state chapter of All Progressive Congress APC under the leadership of the Chairman, Tukur Umar Danfulani has joyfully announced the defection of Alhaji Bello Mohammed Nakwada who is the biological brother of the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammed Nakwada from People Democratic Party PDP to APC.
The party also accused the government of Zamfara state for illegally arresting of one of its members, Bashir Isah Gusau as at 10.pm in a football viewing centre in Sabon Gari area of Gusau, the state capital.
According to the statement signed By Yusuf Idris Gusau, APC Publicity Secretary to Journalists in Zamfara, he expressed great joy as the party welcomed SSG’s brother who happened to sponsor Dauda Lawal’s campaign team in 2023 to its fold while maintaining that, the APC in the state will certainly not fold its arms and watch its members being subdued unjustifyingly through the use of politicised security agents.
According to the statement, Bello Nakwada blamed high handedness and unfair treatment of members as major characteristics of the PDP in Zamfara as reasons for his bold defection.
Similarly, the PDP’s Gusau local government area chairmanship aspirant in the last local government election in the state, Honourable Hassan Idris Gusau also abandoned the PDP for the APC.
Both former prominent PDP figures were happily received alongside some of their supporters by the Hon Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle in Abuja today.
They both separately commended the unity existing in the APC where members receive equal treatment courtesy of its leaders like Matawalle and Distinguished Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar.
They declared their complete loyalty to the APC and its leaders assuring that already their supporters and well-wishers have fully supported the defection and promised to work for the success of the APC.
Receiving the new members, Matawalle who said words alone could not express his excitement, assured that they will enjoy all the benefits, privileges and other benevolence of the APC.
He charged them to encourage their supporters to fully participate in the ongoing e-registration of members of the party.
The party described the arrest of Bashir Is a Gusau, a social media influencer as a political persecution, illegal and unfortunate.
According to Yusuf Idris, the social media influencer was picked by unidentified four persons who claimed to be DSS personnel attached to the Government House. They drove a covered plate number jeep suspected to have come from the Government House.
When other co-viewers tried to protect the victim, the suspected security men fired live bullet shots to bully and scare people who scampered away for their lives as they threw the victim into their vehicle and speed off to an unknown destination.
A search at all the police stations in the town indicated that the victim was not brought to them while all his phone lines have been switched off, a strongly assumption indicate that, he has been incarcerated in the Government House.
Stating reason why the party suspected the incumbent government, the Publicity secretary said, such unfortunate behaviours were mounted against our members before now and were stopped when we raised an alarm against the government but now they are resurfacing.
We are calling on the Inspector General of Police and the Director General, Department of state service to call their attached government house personnel to order.
While our lawyers have already been mobilised to swing into action and if any of our members is unjustly victimised, the party will challenge it legally.
We are appealing to our members to remain calm as our leaders are on top of the matter. No amount of political persecution, intimidation can stop our party struggle to wrestle power from the PDP government in Zamfara state come 2027 Insha Allah.
