Yuletide: Police assures adequate security in Kano

The Kano State Police command has reiterated its readiness to protect lives and properties during Christmas and the New Year festivities.
This was contained in a press statement released by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Majia and made available to news men on Wednesday evening.
According to Majia, adequate security arrangements have been made towards peaceful and secured festivities. Places of worship, Motor Parks, Markets, Roads, Shopping Malls, Recreation centers and all Public places would be adequately protected. Both covert and overt operatives are deployed strategically.
He calls on members of the general public to support and cooperate with the police and all other security agencies in achieving these prime objectives.
To maintain lawfulness during the period, the command has banned unlawful use of fireworks popularly called bangers or knockouts, burning of tyres by youths before, during and after Christmas and New Year celebrations. Parents and Guardians are advised to warn their wards as the command will arrest and prosecute any person found flouting the law.
In the same vain, road are urged to abide by all traffic-rules and regulations and exhibit discipline by avoiding Car racing, unsecured loading and operating unserviceable vehicles.
Individuals in the State are advised to be security conscious of their immediate environment and report any strange person(s) or item(s) to the nearest Police Station for necessary action.
