Yuletide: Kogi Police Command Conducts Campaign Against Crime, Road Walk

The Kogi State Police Command, in collaboration with the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices and the Police Community Relations Committee on Friday, conducted a road walk and public sensitisation rally.
A statement issued on Friday by the command’s public relations officer, CSP William Aya, said the initiative aims to promote a peaceful, safe, and crime-free Christmas season across the State.
“The awareness walk sensitised residents on shunning cultism, criminality, and other social vices, encouraging collective responsibility in maintaining peace and security during the festive period.
“It also, to serve as a platform to engage the public on crime prevention and importance of cooperation with law enforcement agencies,” Aya noted.
He further commended the level of dedication, professionalism, and commitment of officers of the Command, especially, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Kankarofi and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for the proactive steps through community policing initiatives to enhance security, throughout the yuletide season.
He urged them to remain focused, disciplined, and people-friendly, particularly, during the Christmas celebrations.
POCACOV State Coordinator, Austine Alaba, and PCRC Vice Chairman, Tijani Ibrahim, commended the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for this timely initiative, noting that it will help curb criminal activities during the season.
They also lauded Commissioner of Police, Kankarofi, for his unwavering commitment to the campaign’s success, reassuring the public of its commitment to ensuring adequate security before, during, and after the Christmas period.
Citizens are encouraged to remain law-abiding and urged to promptly, report any suspicious activities to the nearest police formation.
Flyers were distributed, and banners with crime-prevention messages advocating peace, lawfulness, and rejection of vices, displayed.
