Youths are important in Nigeria political renaissance – Abia Speaker
The worth of youths in any society cannot be over-emphasised, hence their importance in the political renaissance of Nigeria.
The Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chikwendu Kalu, made the assertion in his office on Thursday when the League of PDP youth chairmen in Abia Central Senatorial zone paid him a courtesy call, pointing out that the survival of the country and Abia State in particular is predicated on the attitude of the youths.
He however expressed disappointment that youths in the country are in confusion and not cooperating, stating that the right attitude is the criteria to get things right.
It is the right time to start educating the young ones in order to get it right”, Kalu said, pointing out that there is no leadership that is small and must identify the purpose for which God made them.
According to him, “youths have a lot to do to raise Nigeria from attitude of the youths.confusion and agitation”, stating that as leaders of tomorrow, the youths should take the schedule on their own, ride the vehicle and tell the people that they will succeed”.
He used the opportunity to thank the senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Theodore Orji, stating the obvious need to be united in the zone in particular and the state in general.
We also need to rally round the senator to enthrone fairness, unity and equity. It behooves on all and the youths to continue from where he stopped”, kalu said.
Earlier in his address, the convener/facilitator of the visit and the Chief Liaison Officer for Sen. T. A. Orji, Ifeanyi Umere, said the group came to “interface with the Speaker” and to congratulate him as a blessing to the state House of Assembly and the state.
Umere congratulated the speaker over the synergy between the House of Assembly and the Executive arm of government in the state, describing the present House as the most active in the country, considering the number of bills it has passed before he became the speaker and now.
He also conveyed the words of congratulations from Senator Orji to the Speaker over his performance as the speaker, stating that this has led to the stability of the House of Assembly, as well as made it calm.
The highpoint of the occasion was a vote of confidence passed on the speaker by the youths as proposed by the PDP youth leader of Osisioma, Emeka Ahukanna.
