Yola billboard-climbing man for psychiatric test

The Police in Yola, Adamawa state are sending a 25-year old man for mental examination after climbing a 40 metre high billboard and threatening to commit suicide.
The man, Lawan Yaro, said he wanted to die to protest “hardship” and frustration.
The Adamawa Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Othman Abubakar made this known to newsmen on Thursday in Yola.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Faro climbed the mast on Tuesday, to the consternation of residents, some of whom accused him of being lazy.
“We are celebrating bumper harvest in Adamawa not hardship”, one of residents attracted to the scene said.
“Faro is just playing politics or he is one of those lazy youths hoping to make quick money from politicians,”said Ibrahim Musa, a farmer.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Faro climbed the mast around 12 noon on Tuesday, but was persuaded by securitymen to come down around 8 pm.
“He has been taken to a hospital for a psychiatric test to be carried on him in order to verify his mental status,” Abubakar said.
