Yilwatda: APC has 75% acceptance nationwide, 2027 will be clear victory

Nentawe Yilwatda, national chairman of the All-Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that the ruling party continues to be the most widely accepted political platform in Nigeria.
Yilwatda made the statement at his residence, on Monday, while receiving members of the APC press corps who paid him a condolence visit following the death of his mother.
The APC chairman used the moment to reflect on the recently concluded by-elections across the country while appreciating his visitors for the visit.
He acknowledged the criticism his party has faced in recent times and how much those criticisms have served as a catalyst to achieving success, referencing the results of the by-elections.
“We are learning from their criticism. Every criticism they give helps us to a better victory. So, we are very sure that our party will succeed in no small measure.
“If you look at it, where the opposition leaders are, we defeated them in all those locations—from Kaduna to Kano to Adamawa to Taraba. So, we just made it clear that our party is a leading party,” he said.
Yilwatda boasted about APC’s status as not just a leading party but also the preferred options for Nigerian electorates who seek change and development in the country.
“We are also not just a ruling party, but we are the leading party and the preferred party in Nigeria. And preferred by Nigerians.
“Because if you have 75 percent acceptance by the people across the country, our success is not just in the north but also in the south,” he added.
He went ahead to list the zones where APC had the majority votes by a large gap which includes the south-south, south-west, north-west, north-east, and north-central.
Yilwatda spoke with so much assurance as he compared the by-election to the coming 2027 general elections which be believed will be clear victories for the APC.
“It tells you that in Nigeria APC is the most accepted party across the country. And that’s the same thing we’ve made in Nigeria. So, expect that 2027 is going to be the same thing,” he said.
Speaking further, the national chairman of the ruling party dismissed media criticism of the party.
According to him, the APC is focused on the people at the grassroot and as such, the media’s opinion about the party does not count.
“Our policies are progressive in nature. So, we don’t address the bourgeois. We don’t address the rich. We address the poorest of the poor. And that’s what our policies are.
“Our target is to ensure that Nigerians, not people on TV, but Nigerians who believe in us, who have confidence in the party, who like progressive policies of the government, who like the bold step taken by the government to ensure that we make changes and bring policies that are creating the real changes that have never been seen before in this country.
“That belief is what people are making. People are voting for the party, and believe me, 2027 is a near-sure victory for us as a party,” he added.
Yilwatda’s proclamation of APC as the leading party in the country comes at a time when the ruling party and PDP are being tagged as a terrorist organization by a Canadian court.
