Women group urges APGA to accept defeat
Women group under the aegis of Women of Honour International yesterday congratulated the senator elect for Anambra central senatorial zone, Mrs. Uche Ekwunife for her victory and urged members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA to accept defeat.
The women group led by the National President, Mrs. Nkem Odunze also called on the candidates of APGA especially Chief Victor Umeh to accept the outcome of the last National Assembly elections in the state.
Mrs. Odunze further challenged Chief Victor Umeh to tow the line of honour by accepting defeat, adding that if President Goodluck Jonathan can accept defeat, every politician should emulate his position.
She also called on Governor Willie Obiano to desist from sowing seed of discord among various stakeholders in the state but see himself as the father of all Anambrarians and not only APGA.
“It has become imperative to make this call as women and mothers of this great state to urge APGA members who lost out in the just concluded national assembly election to accept the results as the wishes of Ndi Anambra demonstrated through their ballots. We also call on Chief Victor Umeh and other contestants on the platform of APGA to stop further moves to drag the moving train back to court in the name of election tribunal especially when it is obvious he was beaten in the polls.”
On the recent statement credited to the governor, the women group called on him to carry everybody along on the ground that the state belongs to everybody and it is a collective responsibility of Ndi Anambra to come together and develop the state irrespective of party affiliation.
“We expect Governor Obiano to extend hand of fellowship to those that won the last national assembly election on the platform of PDP especially senators elect and eschew the idea of going to court which is merely a distraction to our NASS members elect while other states are moving forward” they added.
