We will not allow rigging in the forthcoming LG election- Aspirant

As the Lagos State Local Government election slated for Saturday, July 22, draws closer, an aspirant in the Igando/Ikotun Local Council Development Area, on the platform of the Accord Party, Mr Ahmed Olabode has called on the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission(LASIEC) to keep to its promise that no form of rigging will be permitted during the election.
Olabode said this during a press conference to flag off his campaign for the chairmanship post where he noted that the council has been under a siege of underdevelopment which needs to be broken.
“We want freedom for our people, we want development in our land, ours is not a political ambition but a vision to make a difference. It is appalling to see that this LCDA suffers this much because of the utter negligence of those inhuman and selfish rulers whose trade is mainly to use public funds for selfish reasons while people suffer,” he said.
The aspirant said as a Community Development Area chairman, he won the first runner up Best CDA in the whole of Lagos State which attracted the then Governor Babatunde Fashola to award him N1.5 million which he pumped back into community project.
He said the major challenge the party is facing in the forthcoming election is opposition from the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying his worry is that the party does not bring conflict in the election in order to rig.
“People in this community want change, but APC does not want that, the party wants to hold on to power at all cost, that is why we are calling on LASIEC to do its job well by not favouring any party.
People want basic amenities such as alternative roads to reduce traffic gridlock, youths want employment and so on,” he said.
