We will checkmate pipeline vandals, vow HOSTCOM

Comrade Agadia Samuel, Chairman of the Youth Wing of the Host Communities Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM) Delta State chapter, has asserted that the youths of the Niger Delta region are now set to challenge the activities of oil pipeline vandals.
He told Daily Times in an exclusive interview in Warri that the time to stop the evil associated with destruction of oil pipelines which tantamount to economic sabotage in the country is now and that he and other concerned youths of the region are getting set to spearhead the campaign via a million man march hour that would be held around major towns, villages and locations of Delta State.
According to him, “the idea of the march is to sensitise all and sundry that vandalisation of oil pipelines in the Niger Delta region would ultimately serve no one any good. The local folks would have their means of feeding and livelihood disrupted n the course of such vandalism. Not only that, the majority of the inhabitants’ health would be affected by the pollution which the vandallsm would lead to.
“One thing that we will achieve with the march s that the message will be crisp, clear and well spread. If a vandal refuse to be repentant and team up with us to preach the message his siblings and even parents would be part of the enlightenment programme.
“It is high time we take the path of peace and ensure that generations yet unborn will not blame us for negligence or show of lack of concern for the need for a peaceful, crisis free Niger Delta.”
Comrade Agadia emphasized that the major setback for the actualization of the project is lack of sponsors.
“Once we have the necessary financial support we will role out the drums for the march and let the world truth about the incessant crisis that has continually reared its ugly head in the oil rich Niger Delta region.
The youth activist gave the thumbs up to President Muhammadu Buhari for giving a listening ear to the cries of marginalization by the Niger Delta region.
“We use this opportunity to thank President Muhammadu Buhari for given the HOSTCOM and indeed the people of the Niger Delta region a listening ear. We have never had it so good. This is the first time that the HOSTCOM will bbe recognized by the Federal Government. The heght of iit will be the endorsement he will give to our agitation to be awarded pipeline surveillance contract n our communities.”
Going further, he described the National President of HOSTCOM, Bishop Mike Emuh, as a God sent. “For the first time the activities of the association is getting the attention of the whole world. Bishop Emuh believes in developing the youth and doing his things transparently. Things now work in our favour unlike what obtained in the past,” he concluded.
