Wike dissolves panel on Chieftaincy Classification as Obua receives traditional chiefs

The Rivers State Governor, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has dissolved the Panel set up to review the classification of Rivers chieftaincy stools, with immediate effect.

This is just as the governor re-instated the Caretaker Committee Chairmen of Gokana and Ogu-Bolo Local Government Areas out of the four he sacked in August, this year.

A statement by the Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor on Electronic Media, Mr. Simeon Nwakaudu, directed the panel to hand over all documents in its possession to the office of the Secretary to the state government while directing the Chairmen to report immediately to their duty posts.

Meanwhile the state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Felix Obuah, has called on traditional rulers in the State to support the efforts of Governor Nyesom Wike in the development of the State.

Chief Obuah who made the appeal while receiving a delegation of Chiefs and Elders from Mgbede community in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of the state, led by HRH Eze Chadwick Nkem Ogor, Eze Ogbagu (Ezeali) of Mgbede in his residence in Port Harcourt Friday, said such support would inspire the governor to do more for the people of the State.

The PDP chairman said that the party and indeed the government and people of Rivers state held the traditional institution in high esteem, adding that their role and support helped to fast- track development, urging them to keep up the tempo.

While commending the Mgbede monarch for his commitment and dedication in service to his people, the State PDP Chairman also thanked him for ensuring that peace reigned in his domain.

Chief Obuah reaffirmed the need for traditional rulers, as development partners with the government, to enlighten their people on the developmental strides of Governor Wike as that would further engender more support from the grassroots.

Earlier in his address to the Rivers PDP Chairman, HRH Eze Chadwick Nkem Ogor had said they were on the courtesy visit to salute Chief Obuah as well as Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike following what he described as a visible track record in the developmental history of the state.

The Mgbede Monarch while noting that Governor Wike was deserving of his title as ‘Mr. Projects’, recounted the governor’s inroads in areas of Infrastructure, Medicare, Education, Housing, and the general welfare of the people of the state.
