Wigwe’s leadership qualities earn him patron Boys’ Brigade

The Boys’ Brigade (BB), a global interdenominational Christian youth organization has invested Founder, HOW Foundation and Group Managing Director of Access Bank, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, as State Patron for Lagos State Council.
The induction of Wigwe, Daily Times gathered was in recognition of his leadership and exemplary role in the society, as well as unalloyed contributions to youth development. His new status in the association is a clear testament to his pristine leadership attributes and strength of character.
At the investiture ceremony, which held at the Eko Hotel on Saturday, December 3, 2016, Dr. Wigwe was formally decorated as the State Patron in accordance with the provision of the organization’s constitution; section 34 which stipulates that “ men and women of proven integrity and good Christian standing”, be appointed as Patron of the Brigade Niger at different level.
 With his induction and acceptance of the Brigade’s membership card, Dr. Wigwe has become a member of the Patrons Forum of the Brigade in Lagos State. His new status in the association is a clear testament to his pristine leadership attributes and strength of character.
 A role model in the society, Dr. Wigwe, who has invested significant personal resources and time in youth development through HOW Foundation, noted in his acceptance speech that “he was humbled by his appointment as a Patron of the Boys Brigade”. He added that “nurturing the legacy of Sir William Alexander Smith who started the Boys Brigade in Glashow on the 4th of October, 1883 could be a daunting task, but he took the privilege of such service as a great tonic for continued support for collective good of mankind”.
 As a worldwide movement working with millions of children and young people for well over a century, the Boys Brigade will serve as a veritable footstool for reaching out to youths and impacting their lives positively for Dr. Wigwe. He will leverage the Boys’ Brigade structure, through his Foundation (HOW Foundation) to encourage positive activities amongst youths.  The Foundation, through its founder, is inclined to building football pitch, hostel and other amenities for the Lagos Council to reinforce the commitment of Dr. Wigwe to positive youth mentorship.
 The Boys’ Brigade has influenced the development of the other notable global voluntary organizations such the Boys Scout, formed by Lord Baden Powell in 1908 and nurtured several youths to leadership positions in the society.
