.Unveils fx-9910NG PLUS 2nd Edition Calculator exclusive for Nigerian curriculum

CASIO Middle East and Africa FZE, the regional subsidiary of CASIO Computer Co., Ltd., a leading education technology company, has explained why it is investing huge resources in support of Nigeria’s educational sector.

Speaking at the unveiling of the new fx-9910NG PLUS 2nd Edition Calculator exclusively designed the Nigerian curriculum, in Lagos recently, Mr. Takashi Seimiya, Managing Director of CASIO Middle East and Africa FZE, said the company is bullish on Nigeria because it sees immense potential in the educational growth of the country, and is dedicated to playing a significant role in upskilling students and educators with advanced educational tools.

He further stated that the company’s initiatives in support of the nation’s Educational sector include material development and providing the right tools that enhance students’ learning experiences, adding that its newly unveiled fx-9910NG PLUS 2nd Edition Calculator exclusively designed for the Nigerian curriculum, combines basic calculation functions with advanced capabilities, including differential calculations, integrations, complex numbers, matrix and vector calculations, and many other features.

On what Nigeria should expect from CASIO over the next few years, Takashi Seimiya said Nigeria can expect a continuous cascade of training programmes focused on the usage of genuine CASIO calculators.

“We aim to make these high-quality educational tools accessible across the country, ensuring that every student and teacher can benefit from the advanced functionalities our calculators offer. Our goal is to support the educational ecosystem in Nigeria with reliable, innovative tools that enhance learning outcomes,” he said.

Earlier during the unveiling the new fx-9910NG PLUS 2nd Edition Calculator, Mr. Takashi Seimiya said: “Following the successful training programme for 1,200 teachers in Lagos State on the usage of calculators with Inquiry-Based Learning, we are thrilled to deepen our footprint in Nigeria by introducing the fx-9910NG PLUS 2nd Edition calculator”.

“This calculator is a testament to our commitment to delivering the highest level of support and innovation to Nigerian educators and students by equipping them with the tools they need to excel in science, mathematics, and engineering in today’s world.”

The event attracted prominent figures from the Nigerian education sector, including the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Lagos State, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun; the Permanent Secretary, Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, represented by the Director of Education Resource Center, Mrs. Omolayo Akinlade Olatomorin; the Managing Director, Casio Middle East and Africa FZE, Mr Seimiya Takashi; Senior General Manager, Casio Japan, Mr Tomoaki Sato; Director, Educational, Planning, Research and Development , Federal Ministry of Education Abuja, Mrs. Obianuju O. Anigbogu and a representative from WAEC, Mr Shola.

Students secondary schools who attended the launch also had the chance to participate in a Mathematical Quiz competition using the brand new Casio calculators.

The finalists included Chineye Oforma from Canterbury International School in 3rd place, Bada AbdulSalam from Oriwu Senior Model College in 2nd place and Lawal Ismail from Falomo Senior High School in 1st place. The quiz winners were awarded cash prices of 100,000 Naira , 250,000 Naira and 500,000 Naira respectively.
