Tom Okpe, Abuja
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that it has reached over 20 million Nigerian electorates on telephone conversation in continuation of its presidential campaign. Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Director Field Operations of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), stated in Abuja on Monday while Fielding questions from journalists at the campaign office said his team has carried the Presidential campaign to every community in the country through its door-to-door and telephone calls campaign. He stated that the Directorate was divided into three sub-committees for effective campaign including; Telephone call team, Door-to-Door canvassers and Social Media team. He pointed that why the Directorate adopted the three sub-committees is because one of it must get to at least 1 out of 50 million electorates. The former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission noted that his Directorate was carrying out its functions through voluntary contributions from members saying that, “majority of the 67, 000 youths working under his Directorate as door-to-door canvassers or telephone canvassers are doing so as volunteers. “Everybody working here is working as a volunteer. We don’t have money but we are doing the job given to the Directorate. “We have the Christians, Muslim and ethnic organizations working with us to campaign to Nigerians”. On the message of the Directorate, Ribadu said that their campaign was not to run down any candidate but to tell the electorate what the President has done and what the President would do if re-elected. According to him, “the Directorate has done so much in terms of campaign and has received positive response from the electorate”. He however asked the Presidential Campaign Council to assist the Directorate so it could reach those who have not been reached as the election is just by the corner.
