The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kwara State chapter, has said it is not against any political party or any governorship candidate.
In a statement in Ilorin on Tuesday, signed by the state CAN chairman, Prof. Timothy Opoola, and Secretary, Revd Reuben Ibitoye, it called on Christians to remain calm and continue to remain peace-loving.
Adding, CAN said, “It is alleged that Kwara CAN is against a political party and its standard bearer and that Christians want to initiate religious conflicts in the state. While Kwara CAN has pending issues with the state government, the seminar was not organised as a result of such issues.
“Our intention, by organising the seminar, was never to get involved in politics. The focus was the survival and sustenance of the church, while the objective is the security consciousness of the entire Christians in the state.”
