We’ll Not Challenge Buhari’s Victory, Says PDP

•The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), has said that it will not challenge the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari in the court of law.
Rather, it would support the President-elect, to protect the nation’s democracy, ensure unity and even development of Nigeria, until “PDP regains control of the centre in the next four years”.
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, who made the declaration at a press conference entitled: Nigeria on the Brink of Dictatorship, in Abuja on Tuesday, however, raised the alarm that the APC was plotting to impose a oneparty system on the country.
He said “The PDP invited you today to address a matter of serious national importance, a grievous development and worrisome trend, which is not only inimical to the stability of our nation, but, also the collective well-being of all citizens.
“Because we are convinced that the APC lacks what it takes to sustain our democracy, PDP is not leaving any stone unturned to ensure that it returned to power in the next four years, to save the nation’s democracy and re-channel our vision of a greater Nigeria”. “Our nation and its citizens are facing a serious threat. We are on the verge of a quick slide into dictatorship and the personal freedom we all enjoy today is about to be obliterated”, he added.
“PDP recognises that there were irregularities in the presidential election, but we decided that promoting unity is paramount to us. It is the wish of this party that we will not do anything that will disturb the President-elect, and we will not condone the harassment of our members”, he added.
