We’ll give you violence, Oshiomole warns PDP

The stage is set for what seems to be a feisty climax to the much anticipated Edo State Gubernatorial election, with former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Comr. Adams Oshiomole, sounding a note of warning to the Godwin Obaseki PDP government, that the APC is ready to ‘meet violence with violence’, should the hostilities degenerate to physical violence.

Mr Oshiomole, who issued this threat during an interview with Arise TV, claimed that his previous criticism of Pastor Ize Iyamo as a credible candidate to lead the Edo people was based on misinformation. He also stated that incumbent Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has lost his support because he has reneged on his campaign promises and the developmental plan for Edo State, and also wrote petitions which ousted eminent Edo citizens who were serving in one position or the other on the NDDC board.

Earlier on Sunday, Governor Obaseki had issued a stringent warning to any ‘trouble makers’ looking to foment violence in the upcoming elections, vowing to visit any perpetrators of violence with the long arms of the law.

In his response, Comr Oshiomole said, “if they want violence, we’ll give them violence”

Responding to Oshiomhole’s interview on ARISE Television programme, Special Adviser to Governor Obaseki on Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie, took a swipe at the character of Comr Oshiomole, claiming that the former APC Chairman concealed the real reason he was deposed from the position.

. “Contrary to the narrative being advanced by the sacked national chairman that he was a victim of power play, Nigerians who have followed the events that led to Oshiomhole’s ouster closely, can attest to the fact that he was a victim of his own indiscretion and unholy machinations.

“In fact, in Edo State, Oshiomhole was the powerful force that millions of Edo people fought against, so that the governor could breathe and deliver good governance to them.”

“In Edo State,  Oshiomhole turned against Governor Obaseki when the governor failed to yield to his subservience and his grand plot to rule by proxy. He literally invaded the Edo APC and set up parallel structures to hijack it. His predecessor, Chief Odigie-Oyegun allowed the state’s structure of the APC to carry out its activities without any interference. To Oshiomhole’s immoderation, Edo State is today a PDP state and we are free from his inanities.’’

The interview on Arise TV is merely the latest episode of the protracted political fight between Comr Adams Oshiomole and his former crony, Governor Godwin Obaseki; and, with splinters of threats flying from every direction, promises to produce a spectacle when the polls finally open come 19th of september.
