We Need Solid Friendlies before World Cup – Oshoala
Reigning African Women’s Player of the Year and Super Falcons striker, Asisat Oshoala, has called for solid friendly matches for the team as they continue preparations for this summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.
The Liverpool forward, who’s been Nigeria’s best player for the past year, says it is important for them to play friendly matches against quality opposition as that will expose their weaknesses and give them the opportunity to correct them before the World Cup.
“We have to play a series of friendly games against better opponents; big opposition as that will really go a long way in helping us prepare better.
“Such games will expose our weaknesses and we’ll have time to correct them before the World Cup.
“When you play such games, it also helps to build the team’s confidence and like I said help improve on your weaknesses,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Super Falcons will play the Malian senior women’s football team again, but this time in a Rio 2016 Olympic Games qualifier at the Abuja National Stadium this weekend.
