The Department of State Services (DSS) has said that that two of its personnel were killed in the recent IPOB attack in Enugu State.
The DSS made this known in a statement on Sunday, August 23 signed by its spokesperson, Peter Afunanya.
Afunanya said that there is an ongoing investigation aimed at arresting everyone involved in this attack.
Daily Times gathered that the trouble started about 7 am when some security operatives stormed an Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) gathering at Community Secondary School in Emene and attempted to disperse the group and make arrests.
The statement reads in part, “DSS wishes to inform the public that its patrol team was, today, August 23, 2020, attacked in Emene, Enugu State by members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

“The service lost two personnel in what was clearly an unprovoked violent attack launched by IPOB on the team,” the statement signed by its spokesman, Dr Peter Afunanya, said.
It added: “All measures have been put in place to ensure that their killers and everyone involved in this dastardly act are promptly apprehended and brought to justice.
“Consequently, a full-scale investigation will be carried out with regard to the incident. The service hereby condoles with families of the departed officers and also prays for the repose of their souls.”
DSS assured that it will ensure security agencies maintains public safety and order, urging law abiding citizens and residents to go about their normal businesses without fear.
