Ways to motivate kids to help with chores

When kids are involved in the day-to-day running of the household, they will feel like they are a part of something larger than themselves.
Chores show kids that families are built on mutual obligations and that family members need to help each other.
Here are five ways to activate your kid’s natural drive to get chores and other boring tasks done.
- Get them to help set the table not only for themselves but for others also at the table.
- Ask them to help put things away. Kids can help put household utensils scattered around the house in their rightful places.
- They can also help with dusting the table, chairs and furniture. One thing parents should know is that their kids imitate them whenever they see them do things around the house. So, asking you girl or boy to help with dusting those tables won’t be much of a bother for the kids.
- Allowing kids into the kitchen during meal preparation is also another way. There, they can watch how meals are being cooked and can also help pass cooking ingredients to you. This helps them learn but, make sure they’re not there at the time you want to light the gas! Some kids are experimental in nature. They can also help out with laundry, bed-making, etc.
- Do not make the mistake of paying your children to do chores!
