WASCO intensifies awareness on Ajinomoto, unveils brand ambassadors

West African Seasoning Company Limited (WASCO), an affiliate of a global food giant, Ajinomoto, makers of Aji-no-moto Umami seasoning, has unveiled popular comedienne, Helen Paul and former BBNaija housemate, Miyonse Amosu as brand ambassadors of the company as part of its ongoing efforts to boost healthy living in Nigeria.
Reiterating its commitment to improving nutrition in the country, WASCO management said the coming of the ambassadors would further reposition Aji-no-moto in the country.
Unveiling the ambassadors in Lagos recently, Managing Director of the company, Mr. Niki Junichi, said the ambassadors would use their social media reach to connect with consumers and also raise public awareness on the benefits of the brand also known as monosodium glutamate (MSG) that had been scientifically proven to be 100% safe for consumption.
Junichi noted that the company was committed to creating more value for the society, adding that it was the reason why the ambassadors were selected to disseminate the right information to the public about the safety of Aji-no-moto.
According to him, Aji-no-moto, which has been in existence for over 100 years ,is an umami seasoning that has been scientifically tested to be safe and has been safely used as food ingredient since 1909.
He said: “Over the years, we have grown, especially in the Northern area and so we want to renew our strength in the Southern areas of Nigeria to complement our efforts in the North.”
He stated that the product is present in over 100 countries with over 250 million sachets selling monthly in Nigeria.
In his presentation, WASCO’s Head of Marketing, Mr. Isa Hassan Shallangwa, gave reasons why Nigerians should embrace Aji-no-mo-to umami seasoning.
“The benefit of Aji-no-mo-to umami seasoning includes enhancing and promoting the deliciousness of our meals, it is economical, it reduces salt intake and it is rich in glutamate one of the free amino acids. Almost all seasoning contains MSG”, Shallangwa said.
He urged Nigerians to disregard misconceptions about the product, assuring them that Aji-no-moto had been thoroughly tested with various scientific studies confirming its safety.
Responding, the two ambassadors expressed their delight at joining Ajinomoto as the brand ambassadors. Helen Paul said: “I am happy and delighted for the opportunity to be Ajinomoto brand ambassador, I promise to tell the story about the brand with facts”.
On his part, former Big Brother Nigeria contestant, Miyonse Amosu, also expressed his excitement on the project. “As a chef, I’ll be educating and informing consumers on how they can use their Aji-no-mo-to seasoning”, he said.
