WAEC reveals date 2020 WASSCE results will be released

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released date the results of just concluded West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will be released.

Daily Times reports that the examination ended on Saturday, September 12, nationwide and in other four West African member countries of WAEC – Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Gambia.

The head of public affairs of WAEC Nigeria, Demianus Ojijeogu, on Sunday, September 13, told newsmen that the results will be available within 45 days.

A total of 1,459,463 students sat for the exams in Nigeria.

“Certainly, we will still work towards achieving this 45 days time lag target,” Ojijeogu said.

He described the conduct of the exams as a huge success, saying it was hitch-free nationwide.

Daily Times recalls that some students while writing the examination in Gombe and Bayelsa states tested positive for COVID-19.

However, the Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, said that the students who tested positive for COVID -19 while sitting for the ongoing 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) have been discharged and recovered from the disease.

Nwajiuba said this last month during a briefing by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, in Abuja.
