Those who voted Buhari in 2015 should seek forgiveness —Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose, has said those who voted in Muhammadu Buhari as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2015 should seek forgiveness for bringing untold hardship on the country and Nigerians.

He stated this in Ado-Ekiti on Monday during a meeting of a political group, Osoko Mass Movement (OMM) with some stakeholders as part of preparations for the July 14 governorship election in the state.

“Those who voted Muhammadu Buhari as the president of our country must seek for forgiveness. His leadership has brought unimaginable hardship and misery on the people. The killing is too much and if he continues in office the hardship will be intolerable.

“They said he would come and make the difference and make things better but the reverse is the case. Unemployment is second to none and he has killed the economy and made the people poorer. The level of nepotism is also unprecedented. Even their so-called fight against corruption is laced with favouritism and is one-sided,” he said.

On the July 14 governorship poll, Fayose said he and his party, the People’s Democratic Party were fully prepared.

“We are waiting for their so-called anointed candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi. We will trounce him silly. Let Fayemi tell Ekiti people what he has done for the state as the Minister of Solid Minerals. We have huge deposits of minerals in Ijero, Oye and many other places but he has not found it necessary to help our state and the people in that regards,” he stated.

Governor Fayose said he had put in his best as a governor and was sure that his deputy, Prof Kolapo Olusola would do better when elected as governor.

“We are selling continuity and Olusola is our arrowhead. God will empower and support him. I have put in my best and I know Olusola will do better. Go and obtain your permanent voter cards and make up your mind to make at least five new friends and canvass for Olusola and ensure they vote him during the election,” he urged the people.

Representatives of various groups expressed their support for Prof. Olusola, saying he had all it takes to successfully govern the state.

Dr. Anthony Daramola of the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, said Olusola’s root was known to everybody.

He also described the deputy governor as a good local content and a public officer with a high level of credibility.

Pastor Akintunde Oluwasola of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees and Comrade Olu Owoso of the Non-Academic Staff Union said their members were fully in support of Olusola’s ambition.

Mrs Oluwatoyin Ofere of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) said women were being sensitised to wake up to their civic responsibilities and added that a series of seminars were in the offing in that regard.
