Vogue culture collection by Lummie’s fashion line: A fresh perspective on streetwear
Streetwear are the in thing!
They give a sense of youth to the wearer of any age group, with aesthetics and styles that birth vibrancy and are versatile.
Sometimes, it tells a story of a people, as the word ‘street’ implies; other times, it sets the pace for a new trend because of a designer’s ability to be inventive while traversing different street cultures to substantiate the pulsing design ideas.
Always living to this reality, having forged an identity for themselves as creators of culturally inclined streetwear is Lummie’s Fashion Line. The brand just launched its “Vogue Culture” collection – an impressive work of art finely delivered with the technical ability of Toyosi Elizabeth, the brand’s Head of Design and Garment Constructor.
Vogue Culture Collection seeks to offer a fresh perspective on streetwear for women. Some of the pieces in this collection can be worn to events, regular outings, religious gatherings, and to the office on weekends. The multi-functional nature of the collection means that a piece can be blended with other clothing items to get a complete look for the wearer.
The collection contains full-length blazers, trousers, crop tops, blouses and shorts, which are made from Adire Eleko and Satin. Satin is used as the inner layer of the blazers, and some crop tops and blouses are used for ease of wearing. The full-length blazer is made to be as tall as the wearer’s, while the sleeves are full, and the hem is made of silk fabric that is cuffed into the rest of the blazer. Also, the crop top and the blouse are made as either bateau-neck, round neck or v-neck for wearers to choose from. The trousers have high waists with adjustable elastic bands, while the shorts are bandless or have drawstrings. Both are slightly hemmed in.
Toyosi Elizabeth Agboola did a great job with her team on ensuring that the quality of the finishes on the pieces in this collection is quite evident, from the cuts, grading, and tailoring to fit the specifications of the measurement. Also, the creative manner through which she blended crochet with the knitted crop top that served as a compliment to the blazer infused the fun, flair, and sophistication associated with street style. Toyosi and her team channelled their creative and artistic energy to birth the Vogue Culture – churning out pieces that are comfortable and of great quality, making every fashion lover desire one in their wardrobe. Also, Toyosi’s sketches set the pace for the draping, which resulted in the first samples eventually being transformed into the finished products.
The collection utilized Adire Eleko, which is a very unique Adire in that it has a glossy feel and look. The fabric can also pass for Guinea brocade without the brocade part being present. The fabric can be a little silky to the touch, and this can serve well for styles that require little to no stress to manipulate. Elizabeth’s choice of fabric and styles is also a testament to her unique fashion tastes and her understanding of the youth’s sense of style to some extent.
This collection seems bound to be sold out because of the attention to detail and creativity. We do hope that Lummie’s Fashion line will produce another collection that will supersede this
