“We are working within the parameters set before us by state and local guidelines regarding the number of people who can attend events”.
The decision to bar news media from covering the Republican convention comes in the wake of a spike in the number of coronavirus cases in the US, Trump’s campaign has therefore been faced with the tough decision of doing its possible best to eliminate the possibility of having a crowd scene which will no doubt be promoted by media presence.
CNN however, reports that the convention will be covered via livestream.
Airing his opinion, Zeke Miller, chief of the white house correspondents has kicked against the decision to bar media presence from the convention, insisting that media coverage is an inextricable part of the convention
“This is an ill-advised decision that the @GOP @GOPconvention should reconsider”
“The nomination of a major party presidential candidate is very much the business of the American people” Miller said on Saturday.
